5 Last Minute Christmas Gifts

Make Your Presents Extra Special While Supporting Small Businesses

Are you one of the many people who feel like Christmas came faster than planned? Don’t worry you’re not alone, it seems as if everyone I’ve spoken to feels the exact same way. Some blame the pandemic while others attribute it to a simple loss of time. Either way, they’re both spending the next few days scavenging through malls or on a constant cyber loop searching online stores.

Now, I’ll be honest shopping isn’t my favorite thing to do. But, seeing friends and loved ones happy most definitely is. That’s why when I Christmas shop I try to find presents that are useful, memorable, and unique. So, below I’ve grouped a few of my favorite small businesses that are Black-owned and meet that criteria.

If you’re still looking for last-minute gifts for the people in your life, feel free to check out my list and support.

For the “Event Planner” Friend| LikeU Cards

Once the weather changes, happy hours and outdoor activities begin to become a thing of the past. All of a sudden intimate events like game nights and indoor dinner parties are the new happening thing to do. That’s why one can never have too many games at home, especially the friend who likes to host events. LikeU is a great new game to add to that collection. Created by three millennials on the move, it’s a fun interactive card game that aims to combat cancel culture, and end awkward silences.

For the Beauty Lover | Nailed by LA Studios

Let me let you in on a little secret. Press-ons are the latest recurring trend, and in my opinion, it’s always good to keep a classic and special event set on hand. Not sure where to get them? Nails by LA Studios is an Atlanta-based beauty brand that offers in-home manicures and pedicures, press-ons, beauty products, and more. If there’s someone in your life who deserves a day to feel pampered and treated, I definitely recommend giving them a try.

For the Kiddies | Jarvais Po: The Secret Adventures of a Potato

Created by Celebrity Publicist and Author, Abesi Manyando, Jarvais Po: The Secret Adventures of a Potato is a powerful children’s book that teaches the importance of knowing one’s self-worth and history. Its beautiful illustrations and fun-filled story are sure to keep young children engaged while also sharing important lessons and values. Plus when it comes to gifts for kids, what’s better than a good book?

For the Sentimentalist | Jaz the Jeweler

Next, there’s Jaz the Jeweler. This small business creates custom memory pendants and stylish jewelry that can preserve important moments or add a bit of flair to an outfit. Personally, I love receiving custom gifts because it shows such a clear sign of thoughtfulness from the giver. If you’re looking for something special for a family member or close friend, go take a look at their Instagram.

For the Deep Thinker | A Passion for Chaos

If you know me, you know I love a good book. And this is one of my all-time favorites. It touches on so many important themes like spirituality, pride, the allure of the unknown, and the limits people are willing to go for the things they want. And, it’s all wrapped in a passionate love story with beloved characters. It’s one of those books people talk about years later. To start the conversation, purchase a copy at Herb Wright Books.

I hope you enjoy these brands, and I hope you enjoy your holiday even more. It’s been a hard year. Spend the day creating moments that fulfill you and with people who make you feel peace.

Love,
